ま み む め も consist of the Japanese consonant [m] with the Japanese vowels [a], [i], [u], [e] and [o] respectively. When you pronounce [m], you are going to close your lips and make a sound by allowing air to pass out through your nose. Regarding the sound み /mi/, you need to raise your tongue a little more towards the roof of your mouth than the other sounds. [m] is a voiced sound.
