Japanese Grammar: はずだ 違いない かもしれない

Before starting the exercise for expressing certainty and uncertainty 「はずだ」「ちがいない」「かもしれない」, please clarify any doubts you may have about the grammatical rules by referring to your grammar guidebook or dictionary. The Instantaneous Composition Method requires you to compose sentences with the target sentence pattern(s) over and over in order to use them almost effortlessly. You should already have the necessary knowledge.

Instantaneous Composition Exercise for Expressing Certainty and Uncertainty「はずだ」「ちがいない」「かもしれない」

This is not a translation exercise. This is the Instantaneous Composition Exercise. As if a reflexive action, try to create an equivalent Japanese sentence shortly after reading an English script. Try not to think for more than three seconds.

 1.  A child should be like (his/her) parent. 
どもおやているはずです。 
 2.  (My) friend should be coming soon. 
ともだちはもうすぐるはずです。 
 3.  (It) should not be all right.
だいじょうなはずがありません。 
 4.  This meal must be delicious. 
このごはんは美味おいしいにちがいありません。

 5.  Nomo-san must be good at baseball. 
野茂のもさんはきゅうじょうちがいありません。 
 6.  Takeda-san must be in Japan. 
たけさんはほんにいるにちがいありません。 
 7.  This may taste bad.  
これは不味まずいかもしれません。 
 8.  (I) may be cured (from sickness). 
なおるかもしれません。 
 9.  As for the party, (I) may not go. 
パーティーはかないかもしれません。
 10.  (I) may not travel this year. 
としりょこうをしないかもしれません。 

Note

When you say something objectively, 「はずだ」 is more suitable. When you say something subjectively, 「ちがいない」 is more suitable.
